Barking Mad Survival School

Welcome to our new web site. I am Adrian Bream and I am the founder and Chief Instructor of the Barking Mad Survival School.

Latest News - Survival Course dates for 2012 announced here.

Why "Barking Mad"?

"Because of my passion for the great outdoors and my solitary sojourns into the hills (in all weathers), my wife described me as 'Barking Mad'.  I admit that it probably helps to be slightly mad! However, I thought the name would be eye catching and would sum up the spirit of people who are looking for that 'something different' experience."

Adrian Bream
Chief Instructor

We run basic survival weekend courses and five day advanced courses along with courses on associated subjects. We can cater for individuals, groups, corporate team building events and cater for stag and hen parties.

Additionally we can cater for persons aged 12 to 17 years if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

My courses are run on an informal basis in a relaxed atmosphere with the emphasis on learning and enjoyment. Although I am ex military there is no regimentation or clock watching. As in a real survival situation we work with the elements and the natural resources that are around us at the time, no two weekends are the same.

We have a large training area set amongst the beautiful countryside around Brecon, mid Wales. A variety of habitats such as spruce and oak woods, hazel coppices, marsh, rough grazing, unimproved grassland, streams, springs and river frontage makes it an ideal location for a wide selection of plants, animals and fungi.

Students especially seem to like the up-close encounters with badgers and the fox that regularly strolls into camp to see what the humans are up to.

You should be able to find all our course dates and information required on our web site but we are always willing to discuss particular requirements, alternative dates for both weekend and midweek courses, all you need do is contact us.
